Ipswich’s Ormiston Endeavour Academy has hosted its first ever alumni event to celebrate 50 years to the day since the musical ‘Elizabeth’ was performed on the school stage.

Former students, including Thurleston’s very first Head Boy, Barrymore Cooper, were in attendance – with many of the cast reciting their lines half a century after they performed them at the formally-known Thurleston High School.

Christine Woods, principal of Ormiston Endeavour Academy, said: “It was wonderful to welcome back former students and staff and give them the opportunity to speak to our amazing current students.”

Jim Manning, a former student of Thurleston High School who attended the event, said: “It was fantastic to return to my former school and celebrate the 50th anniversary of ‘Elizabeth’.
